Meet Andrew
After moving into the property, Andrew soon realised that Jill’s artistic ambitions for the garden were not just passing ideas — they were very real. His early vision of relaxing with a good movie and a glass of Chardonnay quickly disappeared, replaced by wheelbarrows, retaining walls and long project lists.
The phrase “You want what?” has been heard echoing across the pond on many occasions.
After years working in sales and senior management, Andrew found himself retraining in manual labour — building retaining walls, shaping gardens and constructing walkways under the careful direction (and supervision) of the artist, Jill. The results have sometimes been impressive, sometimes experimental, and occasionally required rebuilding.
The most significant delay came when Andrew managed to fall into the pond and break his leg — proof that even the best projects come with the occasional setback.
Now that the pond is almost complete, Andrew has stepped back from heavy construction and moved on to quieter, more creative pursuits, some of which you can see here.
